Because life is supposed to feel fun!

About Rachel

I was introduced to yoga at the age of ten by my inspiring school teacher Bill Jarvis. However, it was not until many years later that I found yoga again in my mid thirties. Experiencing sciatica on my left side and gnawing pain in my right shoulder due to repetitive strain injury induced by my profession, I thought yoga might help me. The physical pain improved, and I unexpectedly found an overall sense of wellbeing. Yoga heals on many levels and I discovered calmness and positivity spreading into my life, enabling me to deal with stress more easily.

I have been practicing yoga for twenty five years and teaching for fourteen. I have worked with many well respected teachers during this period, exploring my personal practice and increasing my teaching skills. During my British Wheel of Yoga Teacher Diploma course (500 hours) I was increasingly drawn to the flowing style of Dru Yoga and I have also completed the Dru Yoga teacher qualification (200 hours).

I hold a First Aid at Work certificate.

In 2015 I undertook further training to teach the Specialised Evidence based 12 week course YOGA for HEALTHY LOWER BACKS.

In 2022 I qualified as a Gentle Years Yoga Teacher - BWYQ Level 4. This is a Chair based Yoga for adults 65+.

I hope my passion and enthusiasm for yoga is infectious. My aim is to share the enjoyment and empowerment of yoga with as many people as possible through my classes at Acorn Yoga.

I firmly believe that yoga can benefit everyone, as it supports and nurtures you to experience positive health and wellbeing. This enables you to feel more fulfilled in your relationships with yourself and others and discover your true potential.

My classes are in York where I encourage a supportive, nurturing, friendly, safe atmosphere. I teach with a fun down to earth approach.
